Björn Aneer Project Gallery

Versatile developer with broad experience in programming, embedded systems, electronics, and technical product development. In my projects I move between software, hardware, and physical interaction, building bespoke solutions from idea and prototype to finished installation. On this page you can see some of the projects I have worked on.

Pearl Machine

Machine for producing bead curtains, Bigert & Bergström, 2025-2026

Design, construction, and programming of a machine that produces strings for bead curtains. The machine has eight containers with glass beads in different colors that are threaded one at a time to create a motif. During the exhibition, the machine produces one string per day based on climate data from Sensing the Arctic (see below), and each string is added to a curtain that visualizes the current data.

Lyrografen

Interactive media installation by Milo Lavén and Staffan Virke for Språkmuseet, 2025

Interactive installation with 48 screens at Kulturhuset in Stockholm that creates poetry based on visitors' interaction with the work. I developed the technical solution and handled installation and programming.

Framtidsland

The Museum of Work, Norrköping, 2014

Talking objects, programming and electronics. Reinterpreting recorded interviews as mouth movements. Mechanics and construction by Albin Karlsson

The Ice Breaker Machine

Edelman Deportivo, 2016

Custom-built drink machine, electronics, and programming. Based on a QR code shown to the machine, it mixes you a good drink and puts on a small show. Produced together with Andreas Hammar and Robert Mood.

Window Displays

Joann Tan Studio, 2012-2018

Mechatronics and lighting for Joann Tan Studio window displays, built together with colleagues from the workshop collective Kollektivet SVART where I handled programming and electronics.

Prototype Development

Humans since 1982, 2014-2015

Further development of product prototypes where I created a new version of the circuit board, firmware development in C, mechanical design, and a graphical tool for designing animations to be played back on the hardware.

Painting Software

Project at the Royal Institute of Art, 2009-2010

Self-developed painting software with a minimal screen interface and custom-built hardware controllers. Programmable brushes, some more traditional and others more experimental. For example, more lifelike brushes were created using cellular automata, while others let you paint with the sound wave from the computer's microphone or the latest news from DN.
